Sun Daze Best
June 23, 2008 —
Each new summer season begins fresh with a lighter school load, warm weather, relaxation and a new wardrobe. Summer is a time to dress light and comfortable while staying in style.
Women's fashion varies this year focusing on all types of dresses to plaid shorts. Sun dresses are a big part of the summer lines sold at most stores. These dresses are seen all over and in a wide variety of prints and fabrics.
Dresses are carried in excess at chains such as Forever 21 and Charlotte Russe. These stores carry not only different styles such as baby doll dresses and simple, flowing dresses but also in plenty of colors and prints to compliment any girls personal style.
Bold, floral prints are very fashionable, especially over dark and light colored fabrics. Blacks, whites, grays and navy are all colors that aid to any rose or carnation that accents the fabric. The nautical look (red, white and blue) is a patriotic and familiar way to stay trendy, yet appropriate, for the fourth of July.
Shirt dresses, made of cotton, are also a trendy piece of clothing sported in malls and department stores. These types of dresses are a great item to have for those lazy days in summer that don't require too much effort. Many girls will wear them with leggings of all different colors and accessorize with a big belt for the waist.
But it's not just the dresses that complete an outfit. It's also important to accessorize. Bulky bracelets and long necklaces can add flare to a look as well as large handbags and aviator shades. Footwear has also taken a big turn from simple flip flops to the new ankle sandals. These sandals mask the "gladiator style" which was popular during the era of Spartans.
Men's fashion isn't as picky and versatile, yet guys all over are still looking as clean and fashionable as ever.
The simple vintage or band tee is a unique way to gain attention for a summer look. The vintage look is something people don't see in bulk at every store they walk into and is always refreshing to notice. Guys, as well as girls, can gain anyone's respect for coming up with different ways to wear vintage style clothing. Throw this with a simple pair of cargo shorts and a fabric belt and any guy can look like he just read the latest Men's Vogue.
Sometimes, guys will aim for a more tailored look and instead of tee shirts will go with a simple button down or polo. A simple and casual way to look like effort was put into getting ready in the morning.
As the seasons change, so does fashion. With this guide, hopefully this summer seasons shopping isn't too much of a hassle.
