Student employee of the year announced

Earlier this month, the University announced Melody Coats as the 2008 Student Employee of the Year.
The fifth year teaching spanish major has worked in Scholarships and Financial Aid for three years, the office where students go for inquires regarding grants, loans, scholarship and work study opportunities.
Coates talked about how beneficial being a student employee at SVSU has been for her.
"Being a student employee at SVSU has been extremely helpful while going through college especially working for the office of Scholarships and Financial Aid," Coates said. "Being able to help students and parents understand gives me such a great feeling of accomplishment and I really enjoy working at the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid, even during payment due dates."
Coates spent time on the SVSU Track and Cross Country teams for two years, and is currently an active member of the Hispanic Interest Student Organization (HISO).
Coates is set to graduate in Fall 2008, with a minor in Art to go along with her teaching spanish major.
