Cards blow out Holy Cross

The Cards skated their way to victory in their last home game Friday afternoon against Holy Cross, winning 10-1.
During the first period, the Cardinals came out strong, scoring four goals and keeping the Saints off the board. Thirty seconds into the game, freshman forward Brandon Clary scored Saginaw's first goal assisted by sophomore forward Jason Sugden and freshman forward Chris Tibaudo. Sugden, new to the team this semester, clicked with those on his line as Clary and Tibaudo then assisted him for his goal at 2:55 in the first.
"The addition of Sugden was a positive one and he has done a great job of fitting in with our style of play," junior forward Matt Fogal said of the Cards new forwards play since joining the team.
Sophomore forward Jon Tibaudo scored his third goal for a hat trick at the beginning of the second period, assisted by sophomore defensmen Pat Miller with Sugden in the box for tripping.
The Saints finally joined the Cardinals on the board with a goal at 8:14 in the second, leaving the score at 5-1 in favor of Saginaw.
Fogal scored Saginaw's sixth goal assisted by Jon Tibaudo and sophomore forward Chris Landrith.
Jon Tibaudo's fourth goal of the game was scored assisted by Fogal.
Clary got his hat trick after scoring Saginaw's eighth and ninth goals assisted by Sugden and Chris Tibaudo.
Senior forward Brian Jensen scored the Cardinals' tenth goal at 17:58 in the third assisted by Miller and junior forward Doug Greene.
The team will compete in the regional tournament this Friday and Saturday at TheDow Event Center.
