During the last several weeks, there has been a large increase in larcenies on campus. Due to these specific crimes, SVSU students and employees should take extra measures to ensure safety of their belongings on campus.
Drivers on campus: Always remember to roll the windows of vehicles up fully. A window left down only a fraction of an inch is far enough for someone to break into. Also, be sure to lock vehicle doors whenever it is parked.
Campus residents: Remember to keep all doors locked at all times. Even if people are in the residence, it is still probable that someone may enter the dorm. Don't forget to lock back doors and bedroom doors. Also, close and lock windows whenever possible; a screen will not keep out an intruder while the residence is empty.
While SVSU is generally a safe campus, it is important to remain smart about protecting yourself and your possessions. Take precautions and remember to lock doors on vehicles and residences.
