ITS Support Center relocates to South Campus Complex

Information Technology Services' Support Center has moved to a new location in the South Campus Complex, quite a walk from its old location in Wickes Hall. But just like the staff of the support center hasn't changed at all, neither have its services.

"Our services are not changing at all," he said. "We still do everything, we still take walk-in traffic."

However, the Support Center has retained a presence in Wickes Hall, partially to make it easier for students to find help in the more populated side of campus.

The branch will deal exclusively with account and wireless-related issues, which comprise a large portion of the problems the Support Center deals with.

"We're just trying to make it easier for people that are on that side of campus that have those basic issues," Holliday said.

The Center's move was prompted by the expansion of the nursing program. The proposed health sciences building is still in the preliminary and planning stages of development, recently hitting a brick wall in the form of funding - or perhaps more appropriately, a lack thereof.

In any case, the health sciences department needed more room to accommodate increased enrollment, and the Support Center was asked to relocate.

"That's what preempted our move," Holliday said.

Students should still be able to get their most basic concerns addressed in Wickes Hall, and with SVSU buildings claiming more ground every year, people will be experiencing longer walks, including to the South Campus Complex where the Support Center resides.

"The biggest thing is knowing the location," Holliday said. "We're just next to the University Police."
