Letter to the Editor
Aaron Crossen's article "Islam, modernity can coexist" really got to the point of what needs to happen in Turkey. I have lived and worked in Istanbul for almost nine years and have been in and out of the country since 1982, and I have witnessed all the ups and downs the country has undergone.
I applaud Aaron for understanding what he observes and writing about it in one of the most direct ways of recent notice. He is right; until they quit making laws to impede rather than open communication, freedoms will be largely hindered and true progress cannot proceed.
Even with my blog, I fear closure one day due to what I write, and I love Turkey!
