Phi Sigma Sigma book drive

Phi Sigma Sigma is participating in a book drive to help the people from Nepal. The country is currently in the midst of an ongoing civil war, and as a result it has dropped to the one of the top five poorest nations in the world.

It is asked that students donate any spare books (including textbooks) during a presentation about the Nepalese conflict given by SVSU professor Jim Johnson this Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Alan Ott Auditorium. There will be table set up at which students will be able to make their donations. Donations can also be made at Student Life until May 3, or through Kelly Salomone at krsalomo@svsu.edu.

Relay for Life

Relay for Life will be taking place this Friday from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. in the Ryder Center. The event is designed to raise money for the research of the American Cancer Society. In addition to the relay and its festivities, there will be a poetry contest. Students are asked to submit poems about how cancer has affected them or their community. The winners will be selected by Student Association's Relay for Life committee, and will be asked to read their poems at the event. All poems are due in the SA office by Wednesday.
