Breaking and entering suspect still at large
January 22, 2007 —
University police are still investigating a rash of breaking and enterings that occurred in residential housing last semester.
In early December, the University issued an alert stating that an unknown subject entered several resident hall rooms without permission.
Police say they believe the individual was entering unlocked rooms and, in several cases, did so while they were occupied. In those cases, the individual would make conversation before quickly exiting the room.
It is believed the individual is linked to at least four campus breaking and enterings, three in Living Center South and one in Living Center North.
In one room, a large amount of money was taken.
The individual is described as a tall black male with a chin strap beard, wearing a black hat and coat, possibly in his late 20s to early 30s.
Police say they have identified a person of interest in the case but ask that if anyone has further information, they contact University Police by dialing 9-911.
Police also urge residents to keep their doors locked and report any suspicious behavior.
