A STEP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION -

I've been interested lately in President Bush's call to lift the offshore oil drilling ban and read an article in the Christian Science Monitor by its editorial board called the "Monitor View" that yes, it would be a good idea to develop domestic sources of petroleum but it would not help us until 2030 when, by the government's own estimates, it would be ready to go on the market. »
The question still remains: Who do you want answering an urgent phone call at three in the morning? My best bet is that the answer does not involve both Senators Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. Though a CNN poll shows that 54 percent of voters would support the joint ticket, why anyone would consider them a dream team is beyond my reach. They seemed to passionately dislike one another, and although their feelings may have been sparked by competition, emotions have ignited beyond repair over the past few months. »
Since Norman Borlaug's breakthrough research in agriculture in 1970, India and China have stopped experiencing chronic famines and are now the world's leaders in exporting wheat. Borlaug, "the father of the Green Revolution," was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for dramatically increasing the world's food supply virtually over night. In short, he endowed the planet with a panacea, or cure-all, for the most pressing global concern of that time - starvation. »
If one were to make a list of the complaints Saginaw Valley students have, it would probably be reminiscent of the scroll George Carlin rolled out in his famous "Words you can't say on television" sketch. A few choice words would probably be found on both lists as well. Regardless of its length, one thing you'd likely find near the top of that list of grievances would have something to do with the lack of activity not only on campus, but in the city of Saginaw and its surrounding areas. »
