Dick Thompson is retiring after 38 years of service with SVSU. In a variety of roles, Dick worked in the admissions office, for the registrar, as the dean of students, and as SVSU's ombudsman. But he's worked closest to us as the chair of the Professional Journalistic Practices Committee. »

First, I want to compliment students on a political action Fall semester. The 9/24/07 Vanguard wrote how the Student Association of Michigan planned to bring a thousand people to the Michigan capital in Lansing to protest education cuts in the state budget. The SVSU Student Association sponsored a bus going to the rally. Your participation should mark the start of greater student activism in your own economic interest. »
Violence is in the news every day. A shooting, a beating, a robbery - you name it, it probably happened somewhere nearby. Not all violent crimes make the news, but two recent incidents in the news have me worried about the youth of today. »
