Yeah, we don't know either. It's one of the weaknesses of procedural democracy: elections like the homecoming king and queen contest are simply popularity contests. Whoever can convince enough of their friends to hit the voting booth usually wins, and to be fair, that's perfectly legitimate. But when the popularity contest ends, so should the voting. »
As a former on-campus resident, I lived a life of ignorant bliss, enjoying my posh little dorm/apartment with 'free' water and cable, and a 4.5 minute walk to class. Life was good. I never contemplated what laid beyond in that great unknown I called 'commuterland'. »

The morning of Saturday, Sept. 29 found me waking up in my hometown bedroom, drinking a glass of OJ, and listening slack-jawed to the television news while a copy of paper lay on the table beside me. I suppose it would seem almost comical, the look on my face, as my eyes grew wider and my face got redder as I heard the news that Michigan's government was going out of business. »
