Pioneer renovations, addition progressing ahead of schedule

Faculty offices nearly done, should be ready for use by July

A tepid December has put the renovations of Pioneer Hall ahead of schedule, moving the projected completion of the building to July according to Director of Construction and Maintenance Operations Gerald Stuart. »

ITS plans to expand capacity of "Overdrive" service next fall, roll out new wireless hot spots on campus

ResNet "Overdrive" launched last week and was met with unexpected high demand. The service is designed for residents who regularly use high-bandwidth applications like games or Ruckus, SVSU's music and movie downloading service. »

Committee shares alcohol policy analysis

The recommendations made by the ad hoc committee reviewing the student alcohol policy have been informally approved by Vice President of Student Services Robert Maurovich and President Eric R. Gilbertson. The Board of Control will forma lly review the committee's recommendations on May 12. »

ACM hosts annual high school competition

SVSU's chapter of the Association for Computational Machinery held its annual Programming Competition on Friday. The competition between Michigan high schools is run entirely by members of ACM at SVSU. »

Choirs return from Japan

Recently, the SVSU choir had a truly unique experience - taking a ten-day tour of Japan over spring break.

22 students from the SVSU choir formed a group of 49 performers in conjunction with Bay Choral. The group traveled across Japan, and made multiple stops along the way to share their music. »

  • Warrant arrest in B lot. Officers originally stopped to help individual by jumping their car.

Wednesday, Feb. 21

  • Two MIPs issued in J-3 lot.
  • Property damage to vehicle in J-3 lot. Investigation pending.
  • Destruction of property to vehicle in J-1 lot. Vehicle was keyscratched. Investigation pending.
  • Warrant arrest. Officers originally investigated destruction of property complaint. Individual had a warrant for their arrest out of Branch County.

Suspicious individual at Ryder Center

In late February several reports were filed concerning a suspicious person at the Ryder Center. A man, who appeared to be in his thirties or forties, approached several females. This is not common at the Ryder Center, or elsewhere on campus. Campus police are investigating these reports and are attempting to identify the person or persons in order to stop this harassment. Police are asking any individuals with information pertaining to these events to contact them as soon as possible. Reports or tips may be given by stopping in at University Parking Services and requesting to speak with an officer directly or by calling at (989) 964-4141, or via e-mail. »
