Granholm's tax proposal calculated, sensible

Sin taxes. Excise taxes. Vending taxes. Taxes, taxes, taxes, and they're all part of Governor Granholm's plan to balance the state's budget and put Lansing's fiscal house in order. »

'Puritan' attitudes toward sex antiquated, unfair

The drunken booty call. You are all probably aware of it. Many of you have probably engaged in it, whether or not you remember (or wish to remember) it. Hopefully your drunken lust hasn't led to any unwanted diseases, but perhaps it has - nature's way of saying you chose incorrectly. »

TV addiction spells trouble

A week ago as my friends and I sat down to watch Grey's Anatomy, I felt my arm being squeezed, and everyone around me was crying. The show's title character, Meredith Grey, was being resuscitated after an incident where she fell into water and nearly drowned. I immediately thought that there was something totally wrong with the situation. All week we couldn't wait to see what would happen to Meredith. This past Thursday - since I wasn't home at 9 p.m. when the show started - I found myself speeding to catch the newest episode. I use quotes because in the one game I made it to this year (I am now a law student living in Clarkston) the "pass first" offense made little difference in an embarrassing Homecoming loss to Northwood. »

Overseas experience worthwhile

The thing I remember most about that day is how jerky the donkey ride was. Hanging on to the animal's scratchy hide for dear life, I rode along a narrow path, halfway up the side of a cliff. Far below, the Aegean Sea crashed on the shore. That's when it hit me... my study abroad in Greece was far from normal. »

Preventing overlapping events requires awareness, cooperation between student organizations

submitted by Christi Griffis

Alex Baumgardner's article about the overlapping of Program Board's Coffee House event and Cardinal Sins' Slamoramaglamajama makes a good point about student organizations: we need to communicate better. »
