Casino Royale, the latest in the long-running series of James Bond films, is a long, gritty, and clever ride. Daniel Craig has a good showing as Pierce Brosnan's successor, playing a tough-as-nails Bond unsurprisingly adrift in a tidal wave of enemies and espionage. This movie may have breathed life back into the franchise, and it is a welcome new beginning. »
After a three year gap since their last full-length release, Deftones return with Saturday Night Wrist, a 50-plus minute affair that goes from good to great to bad to good. Sadly, it never settles into a groove and, as a result, it avoids greatness. »
Will Ferrell may be an unofficial king of comedy, but Stranger Than Fiction is no comedy. Don't be fooled by the clever premise of a man (Ferrell as the hapless Harold Crick) who is the character of a novel and who can hear the author's voice narrating his life. Sure, it sounds like a comedy, but if that's what this movie is, then it's a rather dark comedy. »
