Bush's immigration plan offers reasonable solution

In Los Angeles, 100,000 plus marchers protested on Saturday against tough U.S. House of Representatives proposed legislation that would increase the number of walls constructed on the U.S.-Mexican border and make it a felony to be in the U.S. illegally. »

Web site redesign has potential, requires internal coordination

The redesigned version of the SVSU Web site was officially launched on Wednesday, March 15 - at least the front page of it. Many visitors were surprised by the dramatic makeover and, as with all changes, there have been initial complaints. In general, regular visitors to the Web site have concentrated most of their feedback on what is missing from the front page rather than acknowledge the enormous task the University is undertaking. »

Bonds still a Hall of Famer, but respect is lost

I have never liked Barry Bonds.

Despite the fact that he's a complete jackass - probably the one thing I think we can all agree on - my reasons for disliking him did not concern his personality. That would not be very consistent of me; I did write a pro-Ron Artest column over a year ago after the brawl happened. It all stems from the fact that I have been an Atlanta Braves fan for much of my life. I'd rather not get into a discussion about the Braves' ability to choke away championship after championship, so seeing as the Braves' top rivals in the early 1990s were the Pittsburgh Pirates (which Bonds played for) and the San Francisco Giants (the team Bonds moved to in 1993), Bonds has been enemy number one since I was in second grade. »

Voice of South Park's Chef hypocritical for quitting now

Soul singer Isaac Hayes recently quit his nearly nine-year gig as the voice of Chef on Comedy Central's South Park after allegedly becoming infuriated with the show's treatment of his religion, Scientology. Hayes, whose original claim to fame was winning an Oscar for the theme song to the 1971 film Shaft, is a fervent Scientology follower and reportedly quit after the show satirized the religion. »

Israeli-Palestinian peace unlikely

It is agreeable to imagine a world wherein the most financially, militarily, and culturally preeminent nation-states can transform politically repressive, culturally traditional, and economically underdeveloped societies into New York Times democracies. It is very pleasing to conceive of an international system populated and negotiated by political alchemists. »

Program Board deceptively advertising

I'm declaring shenanigans. My target: the deceptive advertising of Program Board.

You may have heard that "Dashboard Confessional" is coming to campus. Even if you haven't, you probably still received spam e-mail like I did from Program Board telling you that "Dashboard" is coming to campus on April 22. »

Music missing from MTV programming

MTV has officially declared its "M" silent.

Seriously, MTV's music programming has been replaced with a slew of moronic reality shows ... except for last week, when MTV aired its stupid reality shows on the beach and called it Spring Break. It's pretty bad when MTV doesn't have to change its broadcast schedule to accommodate the drunken idiocy of its annual spring break coverage. »
