Springtime in the Office

                                                                            by Francis R. Dane

Fingers flying across the keyboard,

I remember to write something positive.

The sense of déjà vu overwhelming,

As empathy for Sisyphus grows stronger.

I’ve written these words before,

But not for this student.

Data are, not data is;

“That” is not a pronoun for a person.

Split infinitive; here, too, and here, and here.

A singular noun requires a singular pronoun.

One main point per paragraph, please

“Since” doesn’t mean “because”

What’s this? A novel phrase?

Well done; more like this!

A cogent argument as a bird sings

Renews energy; the summit is near

Wherefore art thou, thesis?
