Membership Benefits
Nearly every Lifelong Learning Institute has a membership fee. Ours is only $50 a year, which covers expenses to run our program, classes, advertising, refreshments, and more.
We encourage you to become an OLLI member before you enroll in classes in order to take advantage of the many benefits of membership. Those benefits are:
- OLLI members enjoy a 50% discount on all classes. For example, one- to three-session classes are only $18 for members. We offer classes on a wide variety of topics. Everything from history to writing to investing.
- Free monthly meetings. These meetings are generally held on the second Wednesday of the month at SVSU from 8:45 - 11:30 a.m. Each meeting features a speaker, refreshments and snacks. The meetings are held to encourage fellowship, and to give members an opportunity to get acquainted with participants from other classes. We also offer quarterly meetings are our new Thumb Satellite located at the Tuscola Technology Center in Caro.
- Newsletters which outline the classes offered by the SVSU OLLI and other learning and entertainment opportunities the University offers including concerts, plays and lectures. The newsletter will also include information about international educational travel opportunities.
- Use of the SVSU library, bookstore and food court. Seniors can also receive a discount on Ryder Center memberships (SVSU's physical education facility).
- Invitations to "members only" special events.
- An opportunity to learn new things and meet new friends!!
- Free student parking in front of Curtiss Hall.

More About the Monthly Membership Meetings
Free monthly membership meetings are generally held on the second Wednesday of the month (except July and December) at SVSU from 8:45 a.m - 11:30 a.m.. The purpose of these monthly meetings is to:
- Encourage fellowship and friendship among members.
- Listen to a speaker from the area share ideas of interest to the entire membership.
- Receive information about classes planned and SVSU programs available to seniors on campus, such as concerts and plays.
- Give members an opportunity to suggest ways to continually improve our members' programs.
- Monthly Meeting Schedule
We believe that our monthly meetings are the glue that holds our OLLI together.
