About Us
Saginaw Valley State University's College of Science, Engineering and Technology has a unique operation not often found in an undergraduate program. In 1982, the college founded the Independent Testing Laboratory. Local companies gain access to the faculty & staff and modern scientific instrumentation used in SVSU's laboratories. Not only does industry receive high quality services at competitive rates, but student assistants receive "real world" work experience that is valuable when they make the transition to industrial science and engineering positions
Collecting and evaluating data in a team approach with the client is the key to solving an industrial problem or fulfilling a research need. SVSU performs many routine tests; however the strength of the Testing Lab is its approach to problem solving. The client's time constraints are appreciated by SVSU-ITL personnel. We do not follow an academic schedule, but strive to meet the needs of those industries we serve, often providing same day turnaround on the more routine work. SVSU is quite proud of its capabilities and its responsiveness.
