Psychology

Psychology (B.A.)
Psychology introduces the student to the traditions, content, methodologies and results of the scientific study of behavior. Psychology also provides the student with experience in applying psychological principles in real-world settings. The student learns what systematic psychology has shown about how we perceive, learn and are motivated to think and take action; how we differ from one another; how we develop from infancy to old age; and how interpersonal factors affect our relations with each other in the home, at work and in the social order. The psychology major does not prepare the student for any specific vocational objective, although it may facilitate some occupations in social and community services. Students intending to become professional psychologists should plan to complete the major and then pursue post-graduate studies for two or more years.
