Academic Scholarships

The following scholarships are available to students based on academic merit. Students who satisfy the respective criteria will be considered upon admission to the university. The awarding of these scholarships is made by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and is subject to the availability of remaining funds.  For full opportunity to receive any of the following scholarships, a student must apply before December 1, 2011.

President's Scholarship

  • Current value = up to $35,000
  • 150 are awarded each year
  • Eligible students will be invited to a Scholarship Recognition Program which includes meetings with faculty, optional campus tours etc.
  • Covers tuition and selective mandatory fees for four years, up to 136 credit hours
  • Enrollment requirement: Full time student

Criteria

  • Graduating high school senior
  • Must maintain minimum 3.25 SVSU cumulative GPA
  • Either
    • Rank first or second in graduating class & a minimum 24 ACT composite score
      OR
    • 3.7 or higher cumulative high school GPA & a minimum 28 ACT composite score

Dean's Scholarship

  • Current value = up to $12,000
  • 206 are awarded each year
  • Eligible students will be mailed an application upon their date of admission to SVSU
  • $3,000 per year for four years
  • Enrollment requirement: Full time student

Criteria

  • Graduating high school senior
  • Must maintain minimum 3.0 SVSU cumulative GPA
  • 3.0 or higher cumulative high school GPA & a minimum 24 ACT composite score

Cardinal Scholarship

  • Current value = up to $8,000
  • $2,000 per year for four years
  • Enrollment requirement: Full time student
  • 175 are awarded each year

Criteria

  • Graduating high school senior
  • Must maintain minimum 3.0 SVSU cumulative GPA
  • 3.0 or higher cumulative high school GPA & a minimum 22 ACT composite score

University Scholarship

  • Current value = up to $4,000
  • $1,000 per year for four years
  • Enrollment requirement: Full time student
  • No application necessary; automatically awarded based on high school transcript

Criteria

  • Graduating high school senior
  • 3.5 or higher cumulative high school GPA

Private Scholarships

  • Applications will be made available in January to admitted students
  • These scholarships are awarded based on donor criteria & award amounts vary
