For 13 consecutive years, students from Saginaw Valley State University and Grand Valley State University have seized the interest in the schools’ football rivalry and competed in a charitable fundraising competition known as “Battle of the Valleys."
A variety of entertaining fundraising activities make up the schedule for the week. Past fund-raising activities have included:

Donation collections at campus intersections
Get Outside for a Healthy Inside, an affiliate of the Saginaw Community Foundation, will be the charitable partner for the 13th annual “Battle of the Valleys” fundraising competition.
Get Outside for a Healthy Inside is a young organization whose mission is to increase physical activity in Saginaw, and is specifically focused on building parks and trails for families to enjoy, all while staying close to their neighborhoods. It seeks to combat childhood obesity, and its rising rates from generation to generation.

The coveted trophy titled "Victoria" has called SVSU home following 9 of the 12 competitions.

The Battle on the Gridiron
Nearly every year this game has some sort of implication for post-season play for both teams.
It's not football season without the cadence of a drumline or the echo of a horn in the autumn air.

The entire Great Lakes Bay Community gets involved with "Battle" including the Saginaw Spirit hockey team.
