Cross Country

SVSU Host Cardinal Invitational
UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - Saginaw Valley hosted a four team cross-country
meet on Friday, August 30 for both men and women. Participants included
Northwood University, Mott Community College, Lansing Community
College, and host Saginaw Valley State.
The Cardinal women were lead by Meagan Strohkirch (Gladwin,
Mich.) who finished first with a time of 25:22. Rose Willis
(Au Gres, Mich./Sims HS) and Sara Johnston (Grand
Blanc, Mich.) turned in strong performances, as they placed
second and third respectively. SVSU managed to place in eight of
the top ten positions on way to a first place finish with 17 points.
Lansing Community College was second with 51 points, Mott Community
College finished third with 97 points, and Northwood ran to round
out the field.
The SVSU men were paced by freshman Adam Roach (Port
Huron, Mich.) who finished fourth overall with a time of 28:05.
Jerome Recker (Kimball, Mich./Port Huron HS) finished
ninth, Doug McGraw (Freeland, Mich.) placed 13th,
and Brandon Johnson (Owasso, Mich.) placed 15th who
helped lead the Cardinals to a second place finish (45) behind Lansing
Community College (19).
SVSU will run next run on September 6 at Northwood University at
4 pm.
