Women's Tennis

 UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich.- The lady Cardinals dropped a tough 6-3 loss to the visitors from Northwood on Friday (Sept. 13). The Cards won a lone point in doubles play and came up with only two wins in singles action.
    In doubles, the tandem of sophomore Brooke Kennedy (Walled Lake, Mich./Western HS) and freshman Holly Halvatgis (Anchorage, Ala.) earned the Cardinals single point, winning an impressive 8-4 contest.
    In singles action, junior Cassie Jastrzebski (Fraser, Mich.) won at the sixth flight in straight-sets. In the victory, Jastrzebski won every game of a 6-0, 6-0 triumph. In the days longest match, junior Samantha Dodson (Frankenmuth, Mich.) rallied for a 5-7, 6-3, 7-5 victory at No. 4 singles. The loss drops the Cardinals overall record to 2-2. With the victory, the Timber wolves improve to 3-1 on the season.
    The red and white return to action on Friday (Sept. 20), when SVSU will play a 2 p.m. match at Mercyhurst College.
