                                      Cardinal Advance to Omni Hotels Second Round

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.- SVSU women's tennis advanced senior Jennifer Spence (Saginaw, Mich./Heritage) and sophomore Brooke Kennedy (Walled Lake, Mich./Western HS) to the second day of the ITA Omni Hotels Great Lakes Championships in Indianapolis, Ind.
    Spence, seeded 32, disposed of Findlay's Kate Mason, 6-2, 6-1. Spence will play a second round match against Ashley Ree's of Southern Indiana. Kennedy, who was seeded 49th also advanced to the round of 32 with a 6-1, 6-1 triumph over Michigan Tech's Erica Homsten. Kennedy is slated for a second round match up versus the University of Indianapolis' Gayal Jones.
    The Cardinals also dropped a pair of matches in round one, as freshman Andrea Prociv (Jackson, Mich./Lumen Christi HS) fell 6-3, 6-3 to Berenice Ferrer of Northwood and junior Samantha Dodson (Frankenmuth, Mich.) lost a 5-7, 6-1, 6-4 battle to Michigan Tech's Kari O'Dell.
    Play continues thru Sunday.
