                                      Cardinals Suffer 8-1 Loss

University Center, Mich.- The lady Cardinals suffered an 8-1 defeat to Ferris State on Saturday (Sept. 28) in Big Rapids, Mich. The loss drops the Cardinals record to 3-5 on the season, while the Bulldogs improve to 8-1.
    SVSU started the day of slow, dropping three points in doubles play for the second day in a row. The pair of Samantha Dodson (Frankenmuth, Mich.) and Nikki Schwarz (Battle Creek, Mich.) came the closest, losing a tight 8-6 match at the second flight.
    In singles action, the Cardinals lone point came from junior Cassie Jastrzebski (Fraser, Mich.), who won in straight-sets 6-2, 6-3. Jastrzebski won her fifth straight match, improving her overall record to 7-1 on the season.
    SVSU will return to action on Thursday (Oct. 3) when the Cardinals compete at the ITA Mid-American Regional Championships in Indianapolis, Ind.
