BAY CITY – Saginaw Valley State University women's tennis team opened
its spring campaign with a narrow 5-4 victory over Lake Superior State
University at Bay Valley Hotel & Resort Friday night.
The Lady Cardinals won three of four matches
decided by tiebreakers to improve their record to 11-5 on the season.
Singles winners for SVSU were: freshman
Jennifer Roy (Byron, GA,/Peach County) at No. 2; freshman Jennifer Spence
(Saginaw/Heritage) at No. 4; and junior Pearl Siasoyco (Perris, CA)
at No. 6.
The No. 1 doubles team of Spence and freshman
Meghan LaForrest (Bay City/Central) won along with the No. 2 doubles
squad of Roy and junior Heidi Yeagley (Flushing).
SVSU plays Northern Michigan University
late Friday evening and hosts Alma College Saturday.
