SCHWARZ NAMED SECOND TEAM ACADEMIC SELECTION

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio - Senior Nikki Schwarz (Battle Creek, Mich./Harper Creek) was honored by CoSIDA as Second Team All-Academic in District IV for the College Division on the Women's At-Large Team for the 2004-05 season. ESPN the Magazine sponsors the team and Schwarz was one of 23 student-athletes from Division II, Division III and NAIA in a region comprised of Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee and Alabama to receive the honor.
     The women's at-large team consists of crew, gymnastics, skiing, fencing, ice hockey, swimming, water polo, field hockey, lacrosse, tennis, golf and rifle. Schwarz has served this season as president of Saginaw Valley State's SAAC program which joins student-athletes together to assist in activities in the surrounding community. These student-athletes have helped in such events as blood drives and volunteer time to the community in other various events.
     Schwarz was named Second Team All-GLIAC this season and played number one singles and doubles for the Cardinals. She was 7-10 overall in singles and won three doubles matches on the hardcourt.
