Cardinals Fall to Mercyhurst

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University Tennis team fell to Mercyhurst College on Friday (Sept. 26) in GLIAC play. SVSU dropped all three points in doubles play, and all six points in singles competition.
    Nikki Schwarz (Battle Creek, Mich./Harper Creek HS) won her first set 6-4 before falling 6-3, 6-2 in first singles competition to Alison Hughes. In the fifth singles position, Holly Halvatgis (Anchorage, Alaska/Robert Service HS) battled in her first set, but fell in straight sets 7-5 and 6-4 to Joanna Olmstead.
    The loss drops SVSU to 1-3 on the year, while Mercyhurst improves to 4-0 on the year. The Cardinals return to action Saturday, September 27 when they host Ashland University. Match time is set for 10:00am.
