Cardinals Bounce Back

FT. MYERS, FL– Saginaw Valley State University defeated the University of Tampa, FL, Wednesday by the score of 7-2.
     Singles winners for SVSU included junior Dawn Thomas (Port Huron/Northern), who beat Abby Shelide by the score of 6-2, 6-1 in No.1 singles action. Senior captain Heidi Yeagley (Flushing) pulled off a No.2 singles victory by defeating Christine Kriuac 7-5, 6-4. Freshman Samantha Dodson (Frankenmuth) beat Kristen Kowal at No. 4 singles by the scores 6-1, 7-5. Freshman Allison Lamanna (Sterling Heights/Henry Ford) pulled off her second win in as many matches with the Cardinals, defeating Katelyn Demers at No. 5 by scores of 6-1, 7-5.
     In doubles action the No.2 team of Yeagley and Dodson were able to defeat Christine Krivac and Kowal, 8-4.
     SVSU won by default at No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles.
     The Cardinals have compiled a 6-9 overall record and return to action Friday, taking on Michigan Tech University at 8 a.m. in Grenelefe,FL.
