Schwartz Signs With SVSU

Saginaw Valley State University Women's Tennis Coach Jim Teal has announced the signing of Nikki Schwartz of Battle Creek to a National Letter of Intent for the 2001-2002 school year.
One of the top number two singles players in the state, Schwartz compiled a senior season record of 19-1 at Harper Creek High School and was 39-3 over the last two years. She is a four-year letter winner, a conference and regional champion, and also was named team "Most Valuable Player."
"We are extremely pleased to have Nikki join our program," Teal stated. "We expect she will make an immediate impact as a freshman in both singles and doubles. It is also expected that she will have an impact on our campus outside the tennis courts because of her record as an exemplary student, a good citizen and a community volunteer. We feel that Nikki will be a great addition and asset to our campus community."
In addition to her athletic grant Schwarz will also receive the Presidential Scholarship, which is SVSU's highest academic scholarship.
