SVSU Wins Second Straight

GRENELEFE, FL – Saginaw Valley State University won its second straight match in Florida, defeated GLIAC rival Michigan Tech University by the score of 7-2.
     Singles winners for SVSU included junior Dawn Thomas (Port Huron/Northern) at No. 1 over Tara Graham, 8-4. Sophomore Meghan LaForrest (Bay City/Central) won at No. 3 over Lisa Graham, 9-7. Sophomore Jennifer Spence (Saginaw/Heritage) defeated Karie O'Dell by an 8-6 score at No. 4. Senior captain Heidi Yeagley (Flushing) whipped Gail Hansen at No. 5, 8-2. Freshman Allison Lamanna (Sterling Heights/Henry Ford) won by an 8-1 score over Mary Johnson at No. 6.
     Freshman Samantha Dodson (Frankenmuth) teamed with Yeagley for a No. 2 doubles win over L.Graham and O'Dell, 8-6. Lamanna and LaForrest took the No. 3 Hansen and Johnson, 8-2.
     The Cardinals improved to 7-9 overall while Michigan Tech dropped to 11-7. The Cardinals conclude their trip with a match against the University of Findlay at 8 a.m. Saturday.
