BIG RAPIDS – Saginaw Valley State University suffered a 9-0 defeat
to Ferris State University Saturday at the FSU Racquet Facility.
Jennifer Garvey defeated junior Dawn Thomas
(Port Huron/Northern) at No. 1 singles by scores of 6-1, 6-0. Barbora
Jilkova topped sophomore Meghan LaForrest (Bay City/Central) at No. 2,
6-1, 6-0. Ellen Frost won at No. 3 over sophmore Jennifer Roy (Byron,
GA/Peach County), 6-1, 6-1. At No. 4 singles Suzanne Batten (Medina, OH)
defeated Jennifer Spence (Saginaw/Heritage), 6-0, 6-0. At No. 5 singles
Amy Tylutki beat senior Heidi Yeagley (Flushing), 6-0,6-1. and in the
No. 6 singles match Hulda Grin defeated Samantha Dodson (Frankenmuth),
6-1,6-1
Garvey and Jilkova took the No. 1 doubles
match 8-1 over Thomas and Spence. Frost and Batten beat LaForrest and
Dodson at No. 2, 8-2. While Tylutki and Grin defeated Roy and senior Heidi
Yeagley by an 8-0 count at No. 3.
The Cards fall to 5-6 in the GLIAC and overall.
While Ferris boosts its record to 10-0 in the GLIAC, 10-0 overall.
The Cardinals will next be in action at
the GLIAC Tournament in Midland on the 27th and 28th..
