DRAGO PROMOTED TO FULL-TIME MEN'S AND WOMEN'S HEAD SOCCER COACH

University Center, Mich. – Current women's head soccer coach Drago Dumbovic has been promoted to full-time men's and women's head soccer coach effective January 1, 2005. Drago has spent the last two years at the helm of the women's soccer program and will now be in charge of the men's soccer program beginning with the 2005 season.
"I am very excited about this opportunity," said Drago. "I will have high expectations for our teams and I will also focus on recruiting heavily in the area. I know big things will happen here at SVSU."
Drago has led a turnaround in the women's program finishing the 2004 season with a 9-4 overall record and a 5-3 GLIAC record. The Cards tied for third in the conference, which was their highest finish in school history. Drago will enherit a men's program that finished the 2004 season with a 6-5-2 record and a 2-2-1 record in the GLIAC. The Cardinal men finished fourth out of six teams in the conference.
"The hire of Drago on a full-time basis working with both programs helps elevate our programs," said athletic director Joe Vogl. "Since he has gotten to SVSU, he has been a high-caliber coach that has helped the women's program move forward towards goals of a conference title and a NCAA playoff apperance."
