                                 Prior Gives Cards Win in OT Once Again

University Center, Mich. – Jennifer Prior (Flushing, Mich.) scored two goals on the day and also had an assist for the Cards as they beat Grand Valley State University by a 3-2 count in overtime. It was the first GLIAC contest for Saginaw Valley, with the win moving the Cards to 1-0 in the league for the year.
     Kelly Pruitt (Shelby Twp., Mich./Utica HS) opened the scoring as she netted a second period goal in the 47th minute of play off assists from Prior and Katie Terry (Sterling Heights, Mich./Stevenson HS). Grand Valley then scored two unanswered goals to go ahead 2-1 with just over 20 minutes left to play. Then Prior scored her first goal to tie up the game with just over a minute left to play, off assists from Jessica Biecker (Shelby Twp., Mich./Eishenhower HS) and Terry. Then in overtime Prior headed in the game winner off a pass from Julie Conner (East Lansing, Mich.) in the 98th minute of play to secure the win for the Cards.
     Stacy LaLond (Cheybogan, Mich.) went the distance in the net and picked up a win. She stopped twelve shots on the day to pick up the win.
    The win moves the Cardinals to 5-1 (1-0 GLIAC) on the season. SVSU returns to action on Sunday (Oct.3) as they host Ferris State University. Kickoff is set for 12:00 pm.
