Lady Cardinals Earn Second Win

MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University women’s soccer team picked up their second victory of the season on Saturday (September 13) with a 2-0 shutout of Bemidji State in the Northern Michigan Tournament.
     The Cardinals placed 18 shots on goal. Senior Eric Szaroleta (Lake Orion, Mich.) led the Cardinals with an unassisted goal in the 10th minute and an assist. Junior Jennifer Prior (Flushing, Mich.) scored the other goal for SVSU, tacking on the insurance in the 61st minute to help seal the victory. Senior Linde McCubbin (Saginaw,Mich./Heritage HS) went the distance in goal for the Cards, finishing with three saves in her third shutout of the season.
     The win moves the Cardinals to 2-2-1 on the season, while Bemidji State falls to
1-4-1. SVSU returns to action on Sunday (September 14) against St. Cloud State at 11:00a.m.
