Cardinals Lose To Wheeling
Jesuit 5-1
University Center, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University
women's soccer team fell to Wheeling Jesuit 5-1 on Sunday (Aug.
8) in day two of the Cardinal Kickoff Classic.
Wheeling Jesuit's Kelly Murdock opened the
scoring with the games first three goals. Murdock went on to score
four in the game as the Cardinals dropped a 5-1 contest. The Cardinals
Jennifer Prior (Flushing, Mich.) scored the team's
first goal of the season, as she found the back of the net at the
49:02 mark of the game.
"The effort was there, we just need
to learn to finish better and find the right combinations",
said head coach Jim Connor. The loss drops the Cardinals to 0-4
on the season, while Wheeling Jesuit improves to 3-1 with the win.
SVSU returns to action on Friday (Sept.
13), when the Cardinals travel to St. Joseph's College. Kickoff
is set for 7:30 pm.
