Cardinals Find Offense Against Comets

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich.- Saginaw Valley State Women's soccer team had a first half offensive explosion, scoring three goals in the first 20 minutes against Olivet College on Wednesday (October 9). The Cardinals didn't let up as they rolled to a 10-0 victory over Olivet.
The Cardinals' attack was headed by Jessica Biecker (Utica, Mich./Eisenhower HS) who notched a hat trick on seven shots. Senior Kristy King (Lake Orion, Mich.) netted a goal and assist and sophomore Emily Murawski (Warnen, Mich./Woods Tower) also found the back of the net. Five other Cardinals added to the goal-scoring barrage.
SVSU took a 5-goal lead at the half and did not look back from there, as they scored five more times in the second half. Goaltender Linde McCubbin (Saginaw, Mich./Heritage HS) had a slow day in net as the lone shot attempt by the Comets sailed wide left of the net.
Saginaw Valley moves to 2-9 on the season while Olivet College falls to 1-10. The Cardinals will play host to Grand Valley on October 12 at 1:00 pm on the Cardinal soccer field.
