Cardinals Fall to Northern Kentucky 2-0

HEIGHLAND HEIGHTS, K.Y. –  The SVSU women's soccer team suffered their first loss of the season in their 2002 debut, falling 2-0 to Northern Kentucky. The Cardinals were outshot in the contest 20-3. Linde McCubbin (Saginaw, Mich./Heritage HS) made ten stops on goal for SVSU.
   Bessie Black's goal in the 35th minute of the contest gave NKU a 1-0 lead that they would carry into halftime. Early in the second half, Stephanie Sandfoss scored on an assist from Robyn Withers to give the Norse a 2-0 lead they would not relinquish.
   The Cardinals received strong defensive efforts from Katie Terry (Utica, Mich./Stevenson HS) and Lisa Mahoney (Frankenmuth, Mich.) in the loss. SVSU looks to rebound against Bellarmine University on Sunday, September 1, at 10:00am.
