Cardinals Lose Heartbreaker

University Center, Mich- Saginaw Valley State Women's soccer team lost a heartbreaker to the likes of Madonna University 4-3 on Friday (Sept. 27).

Senior Lisa Mahoney (Frankenmuth, Mich.) scored her first career goal as she netted a break away goal past Sarah Hartsel. Emily Murawski (Warnen, Mich./Woods Tower)also found the back of the net for the first time in her career.
The Cardinals took a one goal lead at the half but could not hold off Madonna as they scored three goals to put the game out of reach. A goal by Erin Szaroleta (Lake Orion, Mich.) in the seventy-third minute closed the gap to one, and that was as close as the cards would get.
Saginaw Valley falls to 1-7 on the season while Madonna moves to 7-2-1. The Cardinals will travel to Ashland on October 5.
