Grand Valley Blanks Cardinals

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 loss to Grand Valley State on Saturday (Oct. 12).
    The two teams battled for almost 42 minutes of scoreless play before, Grand Valley's Elizabeth Aceto scored on an unassisted tally. Linde McCubbin (Saginaw, Mich./Heritage HS) made 10 saves, keeping the game in reach for SVSU. The Cardinals put added pressure on Grand Valley during the second half, but were unable to put one past the Lakers netminder Melissa Henson, who finished the game with four saves. The loss drops SVSU to 2-10 (0-3 GLIAC) on the season, while the Lakers improved to 8-2 (1-0 GLIAC). The 1-0 loss also marks the fifth time the Cardinals have been shutout this season.
    Saginaw Valley will host Ferris State on Sunday (Oct. 13) at 1:00p.m.
