Lady Cardinals Topped In Overtime

FINDLAY, Ohio - The Saginaw Valley State women's soccer team dropped a heartbreaking 3-2 overtime loss to Findlay on Sunday (Oct. 6).
Senior Kristie King (Lake Orion, Mich.) scored her first goal of the season to give the Cardinals the early 1-0 lead. Sarah Lieber (Davison, Mich.) gave the Cardinals a two-goal cushion, finishing off a loose ball in front of the Oilers net.
SVSU had out-played Findlay for almost the entire game, but Findlay narrowed the lead to one goal, with two minutes still remaining. The Oilers evened the score with four seconds left on the clock, forcing overtime. Findlay capped off the dramatic come back with an overtime penalty kick goal in the 97th minute of play, leaving the Lady Cardinals completely stunned.
The loss drops SVSU to 1-9 (0-2 GLIAC) on the season, while Findlay improves to 5-3-1 (2-1 GLIAC). The Cardinals will be in action on Wednesday (Oct. 9) when they travel to Olivet at 4:00p.m.
