Cardinals Stumble, Lose to Puerto Rico Bayamon 55-42

FORT MYERS, Fla. - It was a poor shooting day for the Cardinals as they managed to connect on 23.8 percent from the floor (15-of-63) in a 55-42 loss to Puerto Rico Bayamon at the Florida Gulf Coast Tournament. The Cardinals hung tough in the first half and were tied four times with Puerto Rico Bayamon before PRB built a 30-17 halftime lead. The Cards never got any closer than six points in the second half with just over nine minutes to play.
    SVSU (0-2) managed to go 7-of-29 (24.1) from the three-point arc for the game and 5-of-11 (45.5) at the foul line. Sophomore Sam Foggio (Farmington Hills, Mich./Mercy) grabbed a career-high ten rebounds in just 13 minutes. Sophomores Sara Bilunes (Holt, Mich.) and Lisa Collison (Saginaw, Mich./Heritage) led SVSU with eight points each. Bilunes added four assists in 40 minutes of play. Collison added four rebounds and two steals.
    The Cardinals continue their Florida swing with a Tuesday game at Warner Southern in Lake Wales, Florida. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
