Briggs Tallies Double-Double In 75-65 Loss at Northwood

MIDLAND, Mich. - Freshman forward Kali Briggs (Jackson, Mich./Vandercook Lake) recorded her sixth double-double of the year with 16 points and 17 rebounds in a 75-65 loss at Northwood on Monday evening. Briggs has had four double-double against GLIAC opponents with 17 rebounds her second highest total. She was 6-of-11 from the field and grabbed seven offensive boards in 36 minutes. Freshman guard Kara Kinzer (Shelby Twp., Mich./Eisenhower) scored a team-high 21 points and was 4-of-8 from the arc in 36 minutes. Senior guard Krista St. Aubin (Shelby Twp., Mich./Utica) recorded a career-high seven steals and dished out five assists in 25 minutes. SVSU shot 40.7 percent and was 5-of-14 from the arc. Northwood came out in the first half and shot 50 percent in building a 44-27 lead. SVSU trailed 60-37 with 13:40 left before making a comeback and cutting the lead to 72-63 with 1:53 left. NU made three free throws in the final 90 seconds to preserve the 10-point win. SVSU held a 28-14 advantage in the paint and also had 17 second-chance points. The Cardinals (7-18, 3-14 GLIAC) dropped their sixth straight game and will conclude the season at home against Lake Superior State on Saturday at 6:00 pm. Anna Trim led the T-Wolves with 26 points, including four triples.
