CARDS DROP
A 76-59 DECISION AT MERCYHURST
ERIE, Pa. - The Mercyhurst Lakers jumped out to
a 8-0 lead from the opening tip and the Cardinals never could
claim a lead as they dropped a 76-59 game at Mercyhurst on Thursday
resuming conference play and falling to 4-7 overall and 1-4 in
the GLIAC. Freshman Kali Briggs (Jackson,
Mich./Vandercook Lake) led the Cards with a double-double
collecting 16 points and 13 rebounds, including a season-best
10 offensive rebounds. Briggs was 7-of-14 from the floor and also
recorded three steals in 40 minutes. Sophomore guard Sara
Bilunes (Holt, Mich.) led SVSU with 17 points
but mananged just 5-of-13 shooting including 2-of-8 from the arc.
Bilunes added four assists and played 32 minutes.
The Cards shot 32.8 percent for the game
while Mercyhurst was 42.6 percent from the field. The Lakers shot
86.4 percent (19-of-22) from the foul line. Julie Anderson led
MC with 25 points and 13 rebounds. Anderson was 7-of-14 from the
field and 11-of-12 at the foul line.
