Drop Contest to Ferris State

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley
State University women's basketball team lost to the Ferris State
Univesity Bulldogs by a mark of 77-62. The only lead of the game
for the Cards was a 3-2 lead they had in the opening minutes of
play. From there Ferris took the lead and never looked back, as
they took a six point lead in to halftime 40-34. The Bulldogs
came out early in the second half and grabbed a double-digit lead,
going up by thirteen points five minutes into the second half.
Saginaw Valley was outshot in the
game by the Bulldogs 48% to 31%. Ferris also held an advantage
on points in the paint, as they were able to muscle their way
for 28 points inside, while holding SVSU to ten points from inside
the paint.
Senior captain Jessica Wilson
(Martin, Tenn./Westview) chipped in with a career-high
21 points while connecting on five shots form three-point land.
Sophomore Lisa Collison (Saginaw, Mich./Heritage)
knocked in 16 points to help the cause. Freshman Kali
Briggs (Jackson, Mich./Vandercook Lake) continued
to dominate the boards, as she collected ten rebounds.
The Bulldogs were lead by Bridget
Horwitz and Kristin Reinhart both had 15 points on the night.
The Cardinals return to action on
Tuesday (Dec.21) as they play host to Rochester College. Tipoff
is set for 5:30p.m.
