Brogger's Career-high
30 points Helps SVSU Snap Eight Game Slide Against Northern Michigan,
82-68
UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Lady
Cardinals got a huge performance from senior Jennifer
Brogger (Harbor Springs, Mich.), who scored
a career-high 30 points in an 82-68 victory over Northern Michigan
14-3 (GLIAC 6-4). The Cardinals win improved their record to 14-7
(GLIAC 6-6) and they will travel to Northwood on Feb. 4th.
The first half saw the Cardinals
run out to an early lead they never relinquished. The Cardinals
put on a clinic for precision shooting, hitting a season high
eleven three-pointers in the game, one short of the school record.
Valerie Smith (Owosso, Mich.) threw
in 18 points, 15 from behind the arc, while pulling down a team-high
eight rebounds. The Cards were able to take a 16-point lead into
the half. In the second half the Cardinals continued their hot
shooting. SVSU continued to build up their lead to as much as
21-points in the second half. The Lady Cardinals lead was cut
to as little as eight points with 4:29 left in the game, but a
bucket by Jennifer Hagstrom (Cadillac, Mich.)
and freshman Lisa Collison (Saginaw,
Mich./Heritage) going six for six from the charity stripe
sealed the fate of the Wildcats. Northern Michigan was led by
junior center Emily Belland, who scored a team high 18 points
in the loss. Tiffany Grubaugh led the Wildcats with ten rebounds.
