LSSU Sinks
Cardinals in Regular Season Finale
UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University
women’s basketball team dropped a 90-69 decision to the
visiting Lakers of Lake Superior State University in each team’s
regular season finale. The Cardinals honored their lone senior,
Jennifer Brogger (Harbor Springs, Mich.),
following the game.
Lake State took a 46-26 lead into
the halftime break and did not look back. Becky Marquardt-King
posted team highs of 18 points and eight rebounds, while Allyson
Conway chipped in with 13 points. Hillary Bultema rounded out
the double-digit scoring contingent with eleven points.
The Cardinals were led by Brogger,
who posted a game-high 25 points to go with four rebounds and
three assists. Junior Jen Hagstrom (Cadillac,
Mich.) tacked on 21 points and a game-high eight rebounds.
With the loss the Cardinals finish
the regular season at 16-11 (8-10 GLIAC), while Lake Superior
State finished at 23-3 (16-2 GLIAC). SVSU’s conference record
allowed them to qualify for the GLIAC Tournament, drawing another
matchup with LSSU on Tuesday at 7:00p.m. in Sault Ste. Marie,
Mich.
