                                           Bulldogs Bite Cardinals

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University women’s basketball team lost a tough 86-74 decision to the Ferris State University Bulldogs.
     The Cards jumped out to a 41-27 lead at the break, only to have the Bulldogs outscore them 59-33 in the second half. SVSU was also outscored at the charity stripe by a 22-4 margin for the game.
     Senior Jennifer Brogger (Harbor Springs, Mich.), went over 1,000 career points in the game, as she scored 17 points for Saginaw. Jennifer Hagstrom (Cadillac, Mich.) led the Cardinals in scoring as she muscled her way for 22 points. Sophomore Valerie Smith (Owosso, Mich.) added her eighth double-double of the season, as she dropped in 13 points and grabbed eleven rebounds. .
     The Bulldogs were led by Erin Miller who scored a game-high 25 points, while Lucy DeMartin added 24 points to help the cause.
    The loss drops the Cardinals to 15-8 (7-7 GLIAC) on the season, while Ferris State moves to 16-6 (11-2 GLIAC). SVSU returns to the court on Saturday (February 15) when they travel to Allendale, Mich. to take on Grand Valley State University. Tip-off is set for 6:00pm.
