Flyers Down Cardinals
89-63
UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - Faith Smith's
game-high 24 points propelled the Lewis University Flyers past
Saginaw Valley State University 89-63 on Saturday (December 28).
The Flyers held the Cardinals to just 37-percent shooting from
the floor en route to victory. Lewis built a 47-19 halftime lead
and held on for the win.
The Cardinals had four players score in double
digits, led by Erin Johnson's (Saginaw, Mich./Heritage
HS) 17 points. Gretchen Klein (Colon, Mich.) tallied
13 points and a game-high 16 rebounds. Brandi Phillips (Frankenmuth,
Mich.) and Stephanie Hass (Harbor Springs, Mich.)
scored 13, and ten points, respectively.
SVSU committed 26 turnovers during the contest,
while the Flyers committed just 15. Lewis held a 38-24 advantage
in points in the paint.
The win moves the Flyers to 5-4 on the year
while SVSU drops to 4-7 (0-3 GLIAC). The Cardinals return to action
on Saturday (January 4) at 1:00p.m.
