Wildcats Run Away From Cardinals 94-58

MARQUETTE, Mich.- The SVSU women's basketball team suffered its largest margin of defeat this season on Saturday (Jan. 19) at 15th ranked Northern Michigan 94-58, despite the heroic efforts of Kathryn Williams (Detroit/Martin Luther King). Williams poured in a season-high 23 points and also added 5 rebounds and 3 steals.
The Wildcat defense proved to be too much for the Cardinals, as SVSU shot just 29.5% from the floor, including just 5 of 22 from three-point range. The Cardinals registered 17 turnovers, and were only able to come up with 5 steals.
Northern Michigan had five players in double figures, led by Marisa DellAngelo who finished with 18 points to lead all scorers. The 94 points scored by NMU was the most points the Cardinals have yielded all season.
SVSU falls to 8-8 (2-6 GLIAC), while NMU moves to 11-4 (6-2 GLIAC). The Cardinals travel to Ferris State University to battle the Bulldogs on Thursday (Jan. 24) at 5:30 p.m.
